The Pink House

Coming soon.....

A stunning north Oxford villa, we were invited to re-configure this absolutely charming 1920s family home. Inspired by it's personality (and tennis court!) we wanted to work within the existing architectural style. We have been privileged to engineer the project design of this house from the earliest house hunting stages to space planning, architectural and interior design, through turn-key project management services to completion.

Our concept scheme was to push out the existing timber gabled extension and add a hipped roof to balance the tennis store to the other side. The architectural interventions were realised through collaboration with KD Designs with meticulous attention to detail. We completely re-configured the ground floor layout, opening up the internal spaces and bringing a greater connection to the gardens, and added a glazed link with roof lantern in a traditional 'orangery' style allowing light to flood front to back in this south facing building.

A major build project has included the the construction of glazed link and extension, internal reconfiguration creating a guest annex and replacing bathrooms throughout, and including excavation for underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. A sympathetic and colourful interior design scheme has made this one of the most warm, fun and happy family homes in our portfolio. We can't wait to share the completed photos with you soon!

Affectionately known as 'The Pink House', life definitely seems rosy in this lovely space.

Plinth

RD were asked to design and create a dedicated plinth for this fine bronze Stag sculpture. We completed and installed the piece in August 2017. Although the image doesn't quite show the textures which were crucial to the piece, the plinth was constructed from (lateral grained) Oak faced MDF. Mitred in the corners so no visible disturbance to the faces and then painted and sealed with an acrylic matt varnish in 'Felt' by Little and Greene paint to give the piece a clean, defined quality. Overall the plinth stood a metre tall with a 6mm shadow detail around the final top. The whole piece is secured to the wall behind.

Boars Hill library and drawing room refurb

It’s been a great pleasure working on this fabulously grand house in Oxford’s Boar’s Hill. Not least producing this bespoke library space with wrap around custom built bookshelves, and  leading through to the drawing room with highly decorative re-design. A key feature on the Citrine green drawing room was to bring the fireplace back into focus, as the original surround had been lost.  However we have just given a bit of grandeur back to the space and a point to the room, with this newly commissioned fire surround.

Inspiration for the fireplace was taken from the adjacent library, and on an even grander scale, one which still remained intact on the first floor

Putting down the Firebrick tiles with Vitcas fireproof adhesive. The tiles have a beautiful deep lustre (teapot brown) that just sings.

Marble for the insert was sourced locally and had a slight green tint and a fleck that added to its overall quality. The piece stool almost 6ft in the end. We were enormously pleased with the design that we produced for the surround and which was created in conjunction with the Barr Joinery team.
